Verge and footpath eyesore
Reported via mobile in the Wheel tracks or ruts category anonymously at 07:50, Sat 12 February 2022
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 417075.
Vehicles continuously parking on verge, causing damage to verge and footpath. This is an eyesore for visitors and residents of Stamford. The footpath is constantly muddy, why are the police or council not stopping this happening? It’s illegal to drive on a footpath, yet cars are constantly driving on the footpath to get to the verge.
The verge itself is as uneven as the surface of the moon, due to poor reinstatement works by Upp and Lightspeed broadband. There are rocks all over the verge and the footpath repairs are to a poor standard, do LCC not post inspect reinstatement works? This is a main route into town and it looks an absolute mess. Pedestrians have to contend with trip hazards, mud and motorists driving on the footpath.

I wholeheartedly agree with the originator of this report - these selfish car parkers are absolutely obliterating the grass verge. Less than 100 metres from the area photographed is a sign which reads "No parking on grass verge" which is habitually ignored. I believe that bollards should be inserted to prevent vehicular access. The car owners are residents of the properties on the opposite side of the road

The grass verge beyond the footpath continues to be abused by more and more vehicles, in spite of the notice within 100 yards which clearly states " no motor vehicles on mown verge". There are at least six vehicles visible in this photo. Your update on Feb 18 suggests that works are planned for this area, but no sign of them yet.

I wouldn't take word that works are scheduled. LCC appear to just send automated responses and rarely action anything. If you raise a complaint via their website this appears to have slightly better results, but their response time in general is pretty bad.
