Drainage grate in kerb not effective

Reported via desktop in the Flooding category anonymously at 15:09, Mon 21 March 2022

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 420732.

The drainage grate on the side of Brandon Road opposite Church cottage is placed in a position where it is ineffective during rain storms. The water pools right where the kerb is lowered to allow wheelchairs, prams and pedestrians to cross the road making it impossible to cross to the Church during time of rain. Walkers also have to walk around the puddle into the middle of the road at the pathway stops here. Cars driving at speed through the puddle splash the standing water onto the outer wall of the MayGlen property which could lead to some structural damage and dampness. The drainage grate needs to be moved or road in that area heightened so that the water flows to the grate and not pool away from it. Additionally, the iron barrier has been struck at some point and is now ineffective at protecting pedestrians or the nearby house.

  • Update: even after house occupant cleared the grate from debris, following a sudden downpour you can see that the water has pooled away from the drainage grate and flowed away from the grate drown Brandon road across the front of several properties. Thanks.
