May I ask why it is necessary for the public to complain to the East Barkwith Parish council 3 weeks after a lorry shed its load and crushed the footpath railings on a major road A158 Lincoln to Louth on an extremely dangerous corner where traffic as the police are aware travels in excess of 35 mph despite it being a 30 mph zone. The police attended this incident and closed the footpath with tape and 'Footpath Closed' signs School children etc need to cross this road on this extremely dangerous corner due to the railings crushed and the police closing this footpath. How long must we wait or can we attempt repairs ourselves

Sirs, As I reported last night these railings have NOT been repaired and remain in an extremely dangerous state for pedestrians. It would be appreciated if :- (a) You would get your facts right (b)Repair these railings immediately before an accident occurs

As noted in your report of18th March, (work complete).Photo was taken on Saturday 19th and was again inspected on the 21st March. The work has not been carried out. The situation requires immediate action, for if someone is injured crossing the road in another location, because they can not cross at the required location that has been deemed to the best location by your actions, of placing of said barriers, on your head be it. You installed the railing as you the (Highways Dep) considered that there is a greater risk to the public. if they were to cross the road elsewhere. Please carry out the work asap. Parish Council safety Officer. If you are unable to get the work done immediately (as it an insurance claim) an out side contract could be found to under taken the work, as it will be paid for by the insurance, at no cost to the department. so what is the hold up?

When are the barriers going to be repaired I require a date when you will be undertaking the work if you not able to do it asap, then a outside contact can be contacted to do it.

Reference your latest email update dated 27th March at 19.02 stating that these are "fixed" report no.420458. This is totally incorrect the rails are still laying on the footpath which is totally impassible. (This was checked at 20.00 27th March) Surely the police must have informed you about this when the accident happened because it is police tape across the path and signs each end saying footway closed. Will you please get someone to inspect this properly and repaired as soon as possible it is extremely dangerous.

Safety railings remain damaged & footpath closed off which is forcing people to cross on a blind bend at a 3 way junction with a poor view both ways of the main A157. Children from the school bus have to cross here now plus elderly residents who have limited mobility. It’s extremely dangerous & is putting people at high risk of a road traffic accident. No repair works have been carried out to date (March 30)
