Tree overgrown in phone lines
Reported via mobile in the Overgrown tree/hedges category anonymously at 13:42, Sun 27 March 2022
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 421163.
The tree has overgrown, it is invetween all of the phone lines and sometimes when windy disrupts signal. It is over growing into our front garden and branches keep falling off and hitting our cars on our driveway. It needs cutting back a lot to prevent the phone lines being damaged and to prevent more damage to our cars.

Open Reach (BT) are responsible for this issue and contact needs to be made with them. They can only cut branches near their services. You can report this to them at https://www.openreach.com/ help-and-support/ damage-health-and-safety Thank you for reporting this matter.

Hello there I have contacted open reach BT and they said they cannot do anything to the tree as they are only responsible for the telephone lines and the bt boxes. It’s a bit annoying as branches keep falling off and damaging our cars and no one wants to help us to remove the tree. We need somebody out to chop the tree down or cut it back so that it isn’t overhanging and no one wants to take responsibility for it. Can you please help me, bt told me on the phone they can only safeguard the area and they said their phone calls are recorded so if you need this information it should all be on recording. may you please provide a solution to this issue, we need the tree cutting back or cutting down as it is causing damage and we cannot possible cut it down ourselves as it is a big tree and would not fall under the correct health and safety procedures. Thankyou. I look forward to hearing back from you sharply.

We have been in touch with BT in the past and they do not see any issue with phone cables being tangled in trees and are not overly concerned about faults developing as a result of tree branches coming into contact with their services. We can only recommend, if a fault develops that you contact BT again, we do not trim trees to avoid BT or power cables. Thank you for reporting this matter.
