Sharp bend on Damgate
Reported via desktop in the Pothole on road/cycleway category anonymously at 08:54, Fri 15 July 2022
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 427779.
I have seen that today a van turned up to carry out some work on the 'pot hole' - I can only assume this is a very temporary repair as it is obvious there was simply not enough asphalt to completely fill the void, leaving it in the condition seen in the photos. There is a drain amongst the mud which is obviously blocked but I am assured this leads to a dyke to drain the water from the road. This needs to be cleared and kept clear to avoid further damage to the existing road and the repair once completed. Some of the asphalt has buried some litter in the form of a sink drainer (photo attached). Dont think this iss normal practice - also the mud underneath has already started to 'bubble' to the surface.
Thank you for your report. We will investigate and make an update to this report within 14 days.

Have you never heard of steel re-enforced tarmac before :-)

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. This was not work undertaken by Lincolnshire County Council. We do have a job planned to go along Dam Gate and repair the defects but this is not our work, we suspect it is fly tipping by someone trying to get rid of left over tarmac. Thank you for reporting this matter.

Thanks for replying and confirming that action / repairs are scheduled for the entire length of Damgate. As for the 'fly tipping' element - maybe there is a dead body buried underneath the 'left over' tarmac.........Fred West Builders have been seen in the area!
