Ongoing problem with surface water flooding

Reported via desktop in the Standing water covering more than half the road category anonymously at 19:01, Fri 30 September 2022

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 432687.

Unfortunately the work that was carried out on Beck Lane was not where the ongoing problem is so it has not been resolved and remains a hazard to vehicles due to the standing surface water and excessive flooding at this location during the recent heavy rainfall of today.

  • The ongoing problem at this location has not been resolved and there are now major deep potholes in the carriageway at the site of previous repairs that have not fixed the problem of surface water flooding any time there is rainfall. The last report you gave that repairs had been carried out and the issue resolved were in the wrong location. These potholes which are on the approach to a sharp bend are not possible to avoid. They are outside 4 Beck Lane South Hykeham.

  • These potholes on the carriageway are a major hazard

  • These pot holes are getting deeper and much more dangerous. They’re not always visible if they’re full of water and vehicles are not managing to avoid them. If they do, they’re having to go on the other side of the road (nearing a corner).

  • These pot holes outside 4 Beck Lane South Hykeham are still a problem and can not be seen when they are full of water. Our own car struck these this morning 28.10.22 . I have attached the photos. I can see that this was first reported a month ago and I believe you said that you would answer within 14 days ?

  • These very large and deep potholes are causing a major hazard to vehicles on the approach to a very sharp bend and it is not possible to avoid them without risking collision with oncoming vehicles. The council has had a number of reports of drivers hitting the potholes as they are full of water and it is not apparent that they are so deep and dangerous, There is also considerable debris on the carriageway and pavement which poses a further hazard to pedestrians on a busy school route.

  • The potholes in all these lanes are deep and hazardous, causing drivers to use the middle of the road or swerve to avoid extensive damage to vehicles. Instead of ineffective, repeated poor patch repairs all 3 lanes should be resurfaced to the quality used in many cul-de-sacs earlier in the year in North Hykeham such as St.David's Drive etc. These lanes are a major route through to Newark road and used by heavy lorries constantly. The patch repairs are a complete waste of time and money. Before long the deepening potholes will cause a serious accident. It's dangerous to stop and take photos!

  • The previously repaired potholes are breaking down, the pot holes have reappeared and need repairing again. There is also lot of debris on the path which is a hazard.

  • Parishioners report that the carriageway is breaking down at this location leaving deep and dangerous potholes on a very busy road and on the approach to the village school. There is debris from the potholes on the road and on the pavement which is an added danger to pedestrians and motorists.
