Drain opposite "Braygate" and "Vickerstaff" on Fenside Rd
Reported via desktop in the Flowing water, no risk to life or property category anonymously at 12:12, Fri 21 October 2022
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 434313.
I have reported this problem repeatedly. The last repsonse I had on 6/10/22 was "We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because the drains here have very recently been jetted off with a positive result. The location will be monitored in future months with safety inspections" However It IS NOT fixed. The attached photos are taken today at 11:30. It rained yesterday when the problem was worse. Water bubbles up from the drain cover set in the verge in the first photo. It can't get down the gridded cover in the same photo as that is bunged up. Water then flows down the roadside for 50/100 yds depending on the volume of water. It is gouging out the side of the road surface and creating a huge rut (Currently partially obscured by vegetation but worse in winter). Some minor road repairs were carried out but the rut is quite extensive. In the worst weather the volume of water cannot escape along the lefthand side of the road and eventually it runs across the road on the bend to continue down the RH side of the road for about 1/4 mile at least.

These photos were taken at 3p.m. on 23rd October. It had rained during the morning, but had been dry for 3 hours before the pictures were taken. During the rain the situation was much worse with water completely covering the road on the corner. If you require any further information, or larger format photos, please contact me. Photo 1 Water bubbling up from the ’solid manhole cover’ and flowing across the blocked 'grid covered’ drain (Invisible under the water). Earlier in the day the water was forming a small vertical spout as it came up from the manhole cover. Photo 2 Further down the road the water is forming a deep gulley breaking off the tarmac as its flows quite fast and there is quite a volume. Photo 3 Eventually some water escapes into a ditch, where last winter someone (a local farmer I think) dug out a small channel through the verge to allow water to drain away. At one time this spot was marked up with yellow paint (just about visible). Was something supposed to be done here?

Further update on this situation. I have been unable to walk up the road today as it is completely flooded by water pouring out of the drain - all the water from Main Rd, Toynton All Saints is probably passing down Fenside Rd. Water is flowing across the entire road for over 100 yds making it impassable. I know it has rained a lot today but the situation is very poor! I have also got a video of the bubbling water which I will send under separate cover in case it doesn't upload properly.

Really pleased to see that broken away road is marked up (hopefully for repair!!) especially as there is more and more surface disappearing daily, swept away by torrenting water some days. However, do hope that BEFORE you mend the road you will fix the place that the water pours out from, otherwise you will just be wasting taxpayers money on repairs that will simply be eroded away by the water.
