Drain opposite Laburnum Villa/Heathwaite
Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category by Nicholas Fleming at 18:38, Sun 23 October 2022
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 434519.
Blocked drainage system on road opposite my house, which causes a stream of water running down Legsby Road during heavy rainfall. This drain blockage has caused issues in the past. I reported an issue on 14th January 2021, which eventually was reported as cleared on 11th June 2021. As stated on previous blockage, when this occurs it has a back up effect on a drain on my drive which then floods my driveway. Recent rain in the past week has caused numerous flooding occurrences on my drive, and additionally when properties in Market Rasen were flooded due to excessive rain late summer my driveway flooded and also this time my garage flooded, which at the time I assumed was due to the drains not being able to cope. Today, the rainfall caused a stream of water running down De Aston school playing field side of Legsby Road. I went and checked all drains , the drain on the other side of the road is full up of water, the drain between my house on Legsby Road and The Ridings,(drain cover near De Aston School playing fields)is also full up of water. The next drain down the road, (near turning for the Ridings), is clear. So again like the previous blockage I assume the drain is blocked somewhere between these 2 drain covers. Can you please come and sort out this road drainage system, is the drain blocked again or collapsed? Please feel free to contact me to discuss the situation so I can fully explain why my drive is affected.

Following my posting of this issue 23 days ago, I can confirm there has been no improvement to my problem. After my initial posting my driveway outside my side door continually was flooded for 8 days, every time it rained the flood got worse. My neighbours on the same side of Legsby Road also have had gardens with surface water, some having it constantly for 23 days. I appreciate you came out to assess the situation on Monday 24th October, and you now have work planned to rectify the situation, but can you please advise when this work will occur.?? Why didn't anyone come on that day and discuss my problem to explain where I believe the problem occurs and could see my flooded drive..?? Today, Tuesday 15th November, we have had light rain all day,and my drive has again flooded. As said before, being the l,owest point along this side of the road, I get back fill of water up my drain, water omes up my drain rather than drain away.. Please advise.

Following the heavy rain on Thursday 17th November I have attached 3 photos, 2 of my flooded drive and one of my neighbour's garden. These photos are typical flooding of the current status of the blocked drains. All levels of water are consistent at similar levels to that of the blocked drains. It is now well over 2 days since the rain stopped on Thursday and the flood areas have not changed.

I understand that this job has been allocated to one of your delivery gangs 4 1/2 weeks ago and we are still waiting for the work to commence. I also realise that you probably do not work in the 2 weeks over Christmas /New Year , but now as cold frosty weather of early December has changed to many wet miserable days where we have rain , the floods are still occurring regularly. Can you please progress this work as soon as possible, as I am concerned that in the winter months ahead, if we ever have a frost after the rainfall , Legsby Road would freeze over and become dangerous for road users adjacent to where Children are dropped off/picked up from De Aston School.

On Monday 23rd Jan I phoned the council for an update of when this work would be commenced. I spoke to Paul who advised me he would chase up this work. Here we are 3 weeks later and nothing has progressed. As we have not had any heavy rain recently, the flooding in all areas have gone, but this does NOT mean the problem has gone. As soon as heavy rain occurs we will be back to square one. This problem needs sorting ASAP. Can you again please investigate why this job has not commenced, and ensure it urgently get sorted before the next occurrence of heavy rain.

It is now over 6 weeks since I phoned the council, and was told by Paul that he would chase up this work. Still nothing has happened. Its is now 21 1/2 weeks since YOU agreed that this issue of a blocked drain requires to be sorted. When will this work be done. ?? Does anyone read my updates to the reports ??

It is now 32 weeks since YOU agreed that this issue of a blocked drain requires to be sorted. As stated before, after significant rainfall there are surface water issues on my property and on my neighbour's properties, all I believe are due to this blocked drainage system. When will this work be done. ?? Does anyone read my updates to the reports ??

After the rainfall 2 days ago, and todays heavy rainfall, similar areas of surface water occurring as per my previous postings. This is affecting my neighbours properties as well as my own, together with the blocked surface water drainage system where water is running down along Legsby Road. Its now 34 weeks since YOU agreed there is a problem that needs this sorting and the work is planned. On a plan there surely should be target date for work to occur.. Can you please advise what target date is your plan.

It is now one year less 3 days that I first reported this problems with the drains on Legsby Road. Last nights heavy rain has again caused the drainage system to overflow with a stream of water running down Legsby Road towards the Ridings. My neighbour's gardens are again now partially flooded , all similar to the issue's raised previously and has not been sorted for a year. Recently I have had a new drive at my property, and at my own cost had additional drainage ducts added in an attempt to stop the flooding that I regularly had to suffer due to this problem. The last update from the council on this issue was November 2022, when the highways team issued this work out to one of their delivery gangs and and stated they will let me know when the job is complete. Well that is nearly 11 months and nothing has occurred. Not even a written acknowledgement of the delay to progress the work. So I will ask again, when is this work going to be started to resolve this issue.

Still waiting for this issue to be fixed. It is now well over 15 months since this job was stated as planned and still it has not commenced. Every time we have heavy rain, gardens get flooded and with the road drain system blocked the water runs down Legsby Road towards the junction with The Ridings .When will this job be started.?
