B1200,MainRoad, Saltfleetby after pub.

Reported via mobile in the Road Markings category anonymously at 11:02, Tue 8 November 2022

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 436162.

B1200 in Saltfleetby, end of the village where the road is unlit, unmarked, and no cats eyes.

I have highlighted previously to the highways of the dangerous driving conditions on the road. This is noticed all times of the year, specifically in the dark and during periods of strong rain and fog.

The road is a single carriage way with traffic in both directions. Towards the end of the village there is no street lighting. This is a rural road and there are also no visible road markings or cats eyes which makes it extremely dangerous night driving and driving in extreme weather conditions.

The minimum standard of the use of road markings provides considerable safety. The fact the road initially had road markings and they are of a standard now to near non existent due to wear, provides evidence of the requirement for such minimum safety conditions for road users.

On an unlit road at night or during extreme weather conditions when the boundaries of the road or guide of travel cannot be seen makes it incredibly dangerous. Furthermore the road edge is met very closely by a ditch, without these markings adds to the poor conditions for driving.

Therefore road markings being a vital and minimal contribution to the safety of users not only as a through road but for the frequent users of the residents.

For road markings to be effective, they need to be clearly visible both day and night. Especially when there are minimal visual cues to the direction of the road, ie it being so rural with minimal road signs. There is zero luminous on the existing slight markings there are on the current road. Therefore, this does not meet the minimum specification.

This has been previously reported on numerous occasions and has been an ongoing issue for atheist 2 years.

  • Addressing this in the New Year is not good enough. This does not change the conditions of the weather, particularly the significant fog we have experienced this week. The road is dangerous, it is unsafe for the road users. The weather does not permit for this to be an issue to delay.

  • Good Afternoon,

As previously stated, this road was going to be rectified in the New Year. The Year is no longer very new and we are now in July. Not only in the winter and darkness is the road on the B1200 extremely dangerous, but now the long grasses also make it difficult to navigate. The road requires cats eyes, lines and relaying to make it safe for users and residents. Please can this be reviewed.
