Why have we closed this report? We cleaned this areas drains in the last year and our last inspection showed that they are working well. It’s worth noting though that at times of extreme weather even well-maintained drains like these can be overwhelmed. If the problem happens again but in less extreme conditions then please report this to us and we will investigate the issue again. Thank you for reporting this matter.

This morning I received the following email from the school near the crossing with the problem:
Hi Andy
Daryn popped into school this morning to let us know that the crossing on Manning Road was quite icy and I understand one of our parents slipped over.
We do have rocksalt in school but have always been advised that we shouldn’t use it on public footpaths/highways. I understand that the drains near the crossing are also blocked with leaves and that means that icy puddles form around them.
Is there anyone we should be contacting to flag these issues?
Thanks
Kind regards
Jill
Can the leaves be removed and the drains unblocked?
Thanks - Andy H
