Corner of Water Lane & Castle Bytham Road

Reported via desktop in the Flowing water, no risk to life or property category anonymously at 11:46, Tue 22 November 2022

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 437734.

Once again the drain below Water Lane is blocked, this happens every year, last report's reference number is 417967. The drain clearance was reported as actioned in June 2022 but this morning the manholes are overflowing again and water is flowing all down Water Lane again. There is obviously a continuing problem - the water also leaks for about 2 weeks after the drain cover from the ground outside Meadow View so obviously the drain is damaged in this area - cause of continual blockages? PLEASE CARRY OUT A PROPER SURVEY ON DRAIN TO SORT OUT THIS ONGOING PROMLEM

  • I'm sorry to say that the problem is NOT FIXED, water is still issuing from the side of the road in front of Meadow View about 2 hours after the water jetting lorry attempted to clear the drain and has been for the last three weeks or so since the heavy rainfall caused the drain covers to overflow. I spoke to your technician this morning and he said that one drain cover at our gate is marked as a "foul sewer" so he did not attempt to jet from that one, our sewer leaves our property under the rear garden wall into the garden of the house behind as does the sewer from the bungalow next door. Your technician did ask if the leak was mains water and took photographs, the water has been tested by Anglian Water this autumn and is NOT mains water but storm drainage. Obviously further investigation is urgently required.
