I have just moved to willoughby close in corby glen. I find the noise bump, bump ,bump. when lorries travel though Corby glen on the A151 . it wakes me up in the early hours.. Cannot think what residents on that road must feel. Please investigate and level the road please.

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. The A151 through the village is 30mph and is inspected 12 times a year and safety defects are repaired according to our Highways Infrastructure Asset Management Plan. There are numerous services buried in the road and the surrounding highway area, right up to the properties and these can amplify the sounds made as traffic passes over them. The noise travels through these service pipes and ducts. Empty goods vehicles can certainly resonate more than most. There is nothing we can do to stop this happening. The A151 is an A class road and an arterial road from and to the A1, as such it has a high volume of traffic. The road is however likely to be included in a future surfacing scheme as and when resources permit. We are sorry that we are unable to quieten the road surface as there are no safety defects requiring attention at present. Thank you for reporting this matter.
State changed to: No further action
