46 High Street and 64 High Street

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category by Derek Metcalfe at 13:38, Fri 23 December 2022

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 440814.

This has been reported many times and has never been resolved. The blockage is in the pipework between 46 High Street and 64 High street. It occurs not just after heavy rain but even after light rain. Even after the drain cleaning schedule it will occur a short time after. It is impossible to leave my house (64 High Street) and for visitors to arrive without wading through mud and water. (Picture 1). I am sick and tired of cleaning away the mud across my driveway this must be resolved before someone is hurt by the flooding it causes across more than half of the carriageway.

  • These photos were taken on Saturday Morning 7th Jan after a light rain shower and within a week of the roads been swept by the council. Picture 1 clearly shows the blocked drain outside 46 High Street and picture 2 shows the build up of mud and debris on the drive of 64 High street.

  • Picture taken Tuesday 10th January This shows very clearly how much water my wife and I have to wade through to leave our house. The start of the mud deposit is also clearly seen. It is not raining heavy. The only drain that is blocked is outside number 46. The rest of the drains above this on the high street are flowing freely and all of this water is coming out at 46 and flowing past our Drive. Derek Metcalfe (Chairman Swayfield Parish Council)
