Adjacent to entrance to 20 High Street (Eastbound)

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 446270.

Marge cast manhole cover outside 20 High Street (NG334QX) - two part square cover; a loud clunking sound from cover as every vehicle passes over top (cars, vans ,heavy goods traffic) Recent and the clunks are audible inside our house No 20 from passing vehicles Eastbound . New manhole was fitted when High Street was resurfaced last year. Manhole is NOT raised or sunken but must be loose or settled? Note; Best I can do on you reporting criteria offered on Fix My Street so hope this is clear

  • Faulty manhole cover- clunking cover; Information.. This new manhole cover was only fitted by the Highways roadworks team in April 2022 when the High Street was planed and re-tarmacked . The planing machine broke into a deep, brick lined old surface water culvert(?) over which this new, now faulty clunking cover , was fitted by the roadworks team. This cover is is not over the foul /sewage water system which I presume is managed by Anglian Water to which you may be referring in the update above- Their manhole for the foul/sewer system is on the opposite side of the road outside No 5 on the westbound side of High Street 4 metres away. An Anglian Water visit the site when I reported the cover problem first and after opening the faulty manhole confirmed it was an old surface water culvert below- they referred it to LCC Highways. Hope this extra information is useful.
