Illegal use of 30mph repeater sign in lit area
Reported via desktop in the Sign (unlit) category anonymously at 12:54, Mon 27 February 2023
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 449300.
I've noticed this recently added sign in Walcott which has been unlawfully placed. Within a lit area, the use of a 30mph repeater sign is unlawful. The yellow (or grey) backed signs incorporating the enforcement camera along with a repeater sign, is still unlawful. There is a specifically authorised sign (880) which can be used within a lit area subjected to 30mph, this has a blue backing to it with a white border. This is the only sign which can be used within a lit area to remind people of the 30mph limit, as it is legally not a repeater sign (unlike those on a yellow or grey backing).
In addition to this, a single post should not have more than 2 signs on it, 3 is acceptable in some circumstances. This post already had the maximum of three signs, and with the addition of this new sign (which is actually two signs) brings it up to 5 signs on the single post.
Please could the illegal sign be removed as a matter of urgency, and if a speed enforcement 30mph reminder is needed, that it is installed on a separate post or structure, if this sign is justified.
I've attached picture of offending sign & snippet of the traffic signs manual which is an extremely easy manual to read.

Not sure why this was changed to "no further action"
The current signage is unlawful under "The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016", the traffic signs manual explicitly points out how and how not to use these signs.
Please have someone read it, and then correct the signage so it is lawful (by removing the unlawful repeater sign and use dia. 880.
