Multiple issues: uneven pavements, kerbs, trip hazards, poor drainage, water flooding and dirty water splashing onto pavement, loose post office manhole cover creating noise and trip hazard.

Reported via desktop in the Standing water covering less than half the road category anonymously at 12:54, Wednesday 1 March 2023

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 449526.

Broken and poorly laid paving slabs draining towards shop entrance, inset shop entrance uneven, draining to same place where water puddles, producing potential wood rot hazard. Proud kerb stone, unevenly laid paving stones, assorted access covers concreted in but not level, weeds growing on shopfronts. Post Office manhole cover moves when walked on, creates noise and trip hazard (reported to be full of water amongst cables). Poor drainage (?) causing large puddles and localised flooding, passing traffic splashing dirty water onto pavement and passers-by. Further photographs available. Problems ongoing over approx 20 years, some previously reported, but problem continues, some not reported.

  • We are sending this message to let you know that we have assessed this enquiry. Currently this enquiry does not require immediate action. This footway is inspected monthly by a Highways Officer and any intervention level defects are identified and actioned accordingly as per the Highways Infrastructure Asset Management Plan. The manhole cover mentioned does not require reporting as a Section 81 to BT at this present time by us. We are looking into getting all the gullies in the town cleansed/jetted as soon as we can as there are a number blocked, including at this location, however planning and programming this work needs to be co-ordinated with Network Rail and therefore can take time to organise. There are also plans in the pipeline for possibly remodelling this area in the future so this may resolve all the issues mentioned with regards to the level of the slabs. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action
