Opposite 7 Beck Lane S Hykeham

Reported via desktop in the Standing water covering less than half the road category by Carolyn Wilkinson South Hykeham Parish Council at 20:23, Sun 12 March 2023

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 450794.

This has been an ongoing problem since 2017 and despite attempted remedial repairs it has not resolved the situation. These photos were taken when it had been dry for a few days but it is obvious that there is a collapsed drain or some other major problem at this location which is causing standing water on the road. During periods of rain the water is standing is standing up to the centre white line. This is an only pedestrian route to South Hykeham Community Primary School and water and debris from the deep potholes is spread all over the pavement and pupils and parents are at extreme risk due to flying debris from the large potholes full of water and loose material. There have been several vehicles that have reported damage as a result of the large potholes which are full of water. Children are getting wet from cars and HGVs driving through the puddles as they are passing by but there is a considerable risk to pedestrians should a vehicle hit a pothole as they are passing by on foot.

  • The ongoing problem at this location has not been resolved with water standing on the highway and considerable debris on the pavement from the potholes that were previously there prior to the latest patching. The water is being forced up through the road further down during periods of heavy rainfall causing more than half of the carriageway to be covered by standing water.
