Broken Steps

Reported via desktop in the Trip hazard/uneven surface category anonymously at 13:43, Monday 1 May 2023

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 457601.

Broken steps, wall broken, lots of scrap broken bricks, uneven steps, no safety rail and the steps are unevenly spaced. It is a huge trip hazard, it is a health and safety issue. There are families walking down these steps holding babies, including my friends, little children heading to the playpark up these steps and elderly relative visiting me who have nothing to hold onto as there is no safety rail.

    State changed to: Fixed

  • "Status: fixed"....? So the solution to this wasn't to repair or replace the steps with a suitable handrail then? It was to just remove the steps altogether and make it more difficult to get up and down to the street for anyone living in the area or visiting the houses set up on the hill-side of Fifth Avenue. They may have been badly damaged by mindless vandalism but they were still used every day by people, particularly those living in the immediate area. They will now be inconvenienced considerably by having to walk the long way around, particularly when moving large or heavy items in and out of the houses. I strongly feel that the solution here should have been to repair or replace these steps, not make people's lives that little bit harder. They were there in the first place for a reason.
