Reported via mobile in the Misuse of shelter category by Nick Wiles at 11:34, Saturday 5 August 2023
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 467272.
This bus shelter is usually dirty, people smoke, drink, urinate in it and it has become unfit for purpose as bus users are unable to use it because it is occupied by non-bus users. Specifically on Thursday 3rd my neighbours approached the bus stop (i was opening my allotment gates opposite) and a gentleman was sat in there smoking and drinking. I can describe the person and tell you where they live but off the record. He invited them in..... Three elderly people were forced to sit outside waiting for the bus whilst this happened. I know of another case, (I have reported this to the police and again know the name of the offender) who has been sleeping in the bus shelter (and the allotments across the road - allotment team aware and are acting). I know there are patients from the nearby hospital unit also who sit in the shelter and on the nearby bench to smoke and the litter around it is appalling ( I have litter picked this myself ). Ok so I doubt you can do much, but signage, a word with the hospital and other facilities locally, and the odd police drive by might help. I wonder if the shelter were less enclosed it might also be less welcoming? I am very willing to help clean this up, if i can get permission, colour codes to re finish it etc, and if you can provide me with some 'no smoking" signs. This is urgent as winter is approaching and it's not fair that bus users have to move on because of this.
