Cygnet Court/St Thomas's Road

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 08:26, Thu 14 September 2023

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 470769.

The gully on the corner of Cygnet Court and St Thomas's Road is cross connected onto the Anglian Water foul water system. When there has been issues on the foul water line this has caused sewage to flood out over the road and flood multiple gardens between 89 St Thomas's and Briton Court. This has been a historical issue for the customers down St Thomas's Road and for this reason to prevent sewage flooding back the gully has been bunged off to stop any back flows as this has a pumped rising main on the section so impact is extensive. Due to this all the road gullies in this section now have nowhere to drain and has the potential to cause flooding in the area which will eventually drain down to the properties and could cause internal flooding as all the road gullies (8) in this section drain down to the one gully. This will need rectifying as a matter of urgency as the next rain fall could seriously affected residents of the properties. I'm happy to meet a highways officer on site to discuss this matter if required but this sewer needs to be diverted from the AW sewer as there are also historical issues in the area and with the local pumping station being overwhelmed.

  • We're sending you this message to let you know that we've assessed the drainage condition and at this time it does not require urgent repair. However we have identified this location for a larger scale improvement scheme. At this stage we are unable to give specific dates for this or definitely commit to the scheme because we prioritise these schemes based on condition compared with the rest of the County's drainage network and the resources available to us each year. We will continue to monitor this location as part of our routine inspections of the highway in the meantime. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action
