Centre Ireland removed for roadwork and not replaced

Reported via desktop in the Road Markings category anonymously at 14:11, Tue 3 October 2023

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 472665.

A number of months ago a central island was removed on Donnington Road between Toplodage Road and Swaythling Close to facilitate road works. This venture reservation with illuminated bollards has yet to be replaced. The road markings are almost non existent here and the crossing still has sensory panels in the pavement telling visually impaired people it is a safe place to cross. Traffic is nor driving up the centre of Donnington Road to gain access to Exchange Road when there are queues on Donnington Road making this auction dangerous for cars turning into Toplodge Road and Swaythling Close as well as dangerous for visually impaired persons attending to cross the road abba marked safe spot

  • 11 weeks has now passed and no update. This part crossing removal for roadworks is a danger to the visually impaired crossing at what is a designated, by kerb sensory bumps, a safe place. It is also a danger to cars turning into and out of Swaythling Close as lorries and cars queuing for the lights of over what remains of the white diagonal markings and vehicles turning into exchange road are also using the cross hatched area.
