  • Now the water has gone we’re left with a slurry of mud and sewage. We’ve cleared to rubbish from the wheelie bins tipping over but this needs to be cleared by a road sweeper. We have children that want to play out but can’t get off the drive without now walking through this!

  • Thank you for your enquiry. As I am sure you can appreciate, the County has received a large amount of rainfall in a short space of time and as such we are having to prioritise flooding sites which pose as a significant risk to internal flooding. It’s worth noting that at times of extreme weather even well-maintained drains can become overwhelmed. If the problem happens again but in less extreme conditions then please report this to us and we will investigate the issue again. Thank you We will inspect the gully systems following reports and arrange for any necessary jetting. We would recommend in this scenario to liaise with Anglian Water.

  • This was reported to Anglian water on the 13/10/23 as this happened then with less significant amount of water. They have said the pumping station is working but the fresh water drains are overwhelmed. This is the second time we’ve had this issue this month. Please could you investigate the drainage of the road as Anglian water has said that it’s not their responsibility. I don’t understand why Anglian water and high ways are unable to speak directly with each other.

  • This was reported to you September 2019, crap was bubbling up from the same drains. You said at the time it wasn't a highways issue and closed the issue. Surely the occupants of Church Road do not use their toilets anymore than other roads in Stow ? There is obviously an issue with the sewage flow in this area. Rather than passing the problem from anglian water to highways and back again how about taking a serious look at what might be causing this back log...so to speak. I don't remember Sept 19 being as wet as the last few days and yet still the crap flowed. If you would like to walk, drive and cycle through the resulting excrement caked onto the road then please feel free, but don't expect us to. This issue is not closed as you have keenly reported it does not just happen when we have biblical rainfall so do the right thing and deal with the issue.
