Road edge outside Fern Lodge.

Reported via desktop in the Flowing water, life or property at risk category anonymously at 16:15, Tue 24 October 2023

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 476010.

Due the the number of times Old Fen Lane has been resurfaced/topdressed it is considerably higher than the driveways. As a result, every time it rains the surface water runs down our drive and floods the front of our property and on many occasions has ingressed into our garage. We have already had the drive surface changed to a porous one and we have fitted aco drain across our front boundary but this is still proving insufficient in heavy rain. Several neighbouring properties have had a ridge of tarmac along the road edge to prevent surface water from reaching private driveways and we would like to enquire how we arrange to get this done.

  • Do you have any idea how much longer we will be waiting for this to be fixed? Yesterdays rain caused us problems again. If we continue to suffer damage we will have no choice but to consider requesting compensation for our losses.

  • A quick update for you. We’ve been to site and made this problem safe with a temporary repair. We are going to return to do a permanent fix.

    State changed to: Fixed

  • The topsoil and grass seed that has been scattered over the soakaway that was dug out has now washed into the accodrain that we previously installed across the boundary of our property to help prevent run off from the road flooding our driveway & garage. The 'temporary fix' is not fit for purpose as the gully has been installed nearly 2 feet from the area that was marked for the work and the kerb edging that we were told would be installed to direct the runoff into the drain has not been done. I spoke with the office twice during the 4 days it took the workmen to dig the soakaway and was told it would be looked into. Yesterday rain has caused even more problems following this 'bodged' repair than before the work was done. I would appreciate a phone call, 01526 344324, to confirm when this work is going to be rectified as soon as possible please.
