East Fen Catchwater Drain between Peregrine Cottage and The Cottage

Reported via desktop in the Damaged dyke, ditch or culvert category anonymously at 17:25, Fri 27 October 2023

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 476508.

I reported fast flowing water across the road caused by East Fen Catchwater Drain breaching the bank (see 475358 and 475291). I’ve just received a “closed” notification and am extremely disappointed by the response. The breach in the bank may have caused severe flooding to my and neighbours property. While the flow of water may have stopped because the rainfall eased and drain was emptied there is now damage to the road. I’m referring to East Fen Catchwater drain - a major waterway and not a small drain or gully alongside a road as you will see from the map. The water has damaged the road surface and potholes need repairing. I am more concerned that the bank is checked for weakness. Would you please look at the road level and integrity to ensure that the drain does not overflow and the bank does not suffer a major breach.
