The Raceground

Reported via iOS in the Flowing water, life or property at risk category anonymously at 16:23, Fri 15 December 2023

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 483220.

The road is full of detritus from the exiting farm vehicles, they do have a road sweeper which attempts to clean the road but this only makes matters worse by distributing the mud to the edge of the road, I have raised my concerns to the farmer on a number of occasions, they have now employed an industrial road sweeper about 3 times a week which does clean the road but again distributes it to the side causing a build up preventing the water to flow to the gully, The gully is also struggling to take the volume of water as it is full of mud. This is putting us at a high risk of flooding as we are not on main drainage and low to the road. There are also a number of pot holes forming along the road due to heavy machinery. Whilst I appreciate they have to get the crops off the field I am of the understanding according to the Highways Act 1980 Section 148 they are responsible, how do I protect my property from potential flooding and ensure the road is kept to an acceptable cleanliness to ensure the gully remains functional?

  • I find your response rather evasive, it could quite easily be on your schedule for July 2024. Can you please advise me who I need to contact with regards to the issues I am experiencing, someone who can give me some advice/rights or are you saying I have to live with the daily worry of flooding and I have to clean the road and drain myself?
