The stormwater drain here has not been draining properly for some time now, leading to minor road flooding and exacerbating the flood that happened in October - over the previous weeks it has overflowed even when the beck has been lowered. There could potentially be a blockage causing this issue.

  • Great news, we’ve had a look at the issue and we have now passed to our Highways Officers for the team to assess what can be done to resolve the matter. We’ll let you know when the assessment has taken place.

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. We've inspected and acknowledge that this gully/system is blocked, but because it is not causing a serious highway safety or property flooding issue we will not be ordering work at this time. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • Hello - this was first reported following the major floods in Dunston which did cause damage to several homes. While it is not actively causing issues right now, it was clear that a lack of appropriate drainage exacerbated the issue. To have this response over a year after reporting it is not suitable, this should be fixed before potential flooding happens here again.
