Sunken road surface and potholes

Reported via desktop in the Pothole on road/cycleway category anonymously at 10:06, Sat 6 January 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 486912.

The whole road surface here is appalling. Several potholes and previous works by contractors has resulted in the road sinking over the underground drain. This has been ongoing for years and has reached the point where it is nearly impossible for any vehicle, cyclist or pedestrian to safely navigate this area. Patching it up won’t work, it requires extensive remedial work, and urgently. Good luck with defending any vehicular damage or personal injury claims.

  • Well, well, well! This has not addressed the problem at all. The original report clearly said ‘the whole road surface is appalling…….patching it up won’t work’. I take it this is a temporary short term fix and that you will be back when a vehicle is damaged or a cyclist or other road user is seriously injured. The word ‘appalling’ would be just as aptly applied to the so-called rectification as to the state of the road here.

  • Here’s a better photo of the so-called fix! Incredible that anyone would think this is a satisfactory resolution of a serious and dangerous defect. Abysmal jumps to mind. As previously noted this is especially dangerous for two wheeled road users.
