I am a resident in the small village of Swarby, near to Sleaford. It has become apparent that following the large estates being built at the London Road end of Sleaford, more and more vehicles are cutting through my village using the minor road which provides a convenient cut through route for traffic to and from the Grantham area. It is not suitable for two way traffic as it has deteriorated in recent times. I see this has already been reported on Fix My Street. However, the main concern is the excessive speed that vehicles are travelling in the 30 MPH zone through the eastern side of the village where the road is long and straight in nature. I am not referring to speeds which are just over but those that are far in excess of the 30 MPH speed limit - even double in some cases! It is not acceptable and is particularly relevant in early morning and tea time - presumably related to work times. There is contempt and a disrespectful attitude by many drivers towards the identified and lawful speed limit signs. It is dangerous, particularly in the dark, as in some areas there is no public footpath available. There are also many concealed driveways belonging to residents bordering the road which is obviously dangerous for their vehicles joining the road due to the excessive speed of others. Action needs to be taken. It is unacceptable for this excessive speeding, especially as the volume of traffic is now on the increase. This will be further extrapolated by the continued building of houses at the southern end of Sleaford with the additional residents becoming aware of the availability of a cut through for their vehicles to the Grantham area. At the very least additional signage, on the road and at the roadside, should be provided to alleviate this dangerous problem. It has been provided in other nearby villages, ie. Silk Willoughby, Osbournby, Welby, where they have had extra signage introduced to deal with this issue.
