Church Lane Friesthorpe

Reported via mobile in the Weeds on the highway category anonymously at 13:42, Sun 18 February 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 494468.

Problems persist along the whole length of Church Lane. The Lane does not have street lighting, foot path or drainage. The problems have been reported to the Local Councillor (phone and e mail) and to the Highways department by phone. Please see the following which will also be copied to other sections. Repairs were undertaken last year which were ineffective and persist. Numerous potholes are still present and have been for years. The potholes are of various sizes and depths. The potholes are getting progressively worse. The holes are outside the Church entrance along the Lane up to Friesthorpe Hall and Friesthorpe House. The holes are full of mud and the pothole depths cannot be easily measured due to debris in them. (Yellow marker paint will not adhere to mud and water). Last year I had to use crutches to walk and could not traverse the Lane. Water runs openly on the Lane, even when it is not raining heavily, making it difficult and dangerous to traverse the Lane. The potholes are a health and safety hazard, particularly when it is dark without street lights. It is difficult to use pushchairs and virtually impossible to travel the Lane in a wheelchair or on a mobility scooter. The potholes repeatedly get full of water, mud and silt. Grass/weeds have to be mowed in the middle of the Lane. Silt now catches on the bottom of vehicles. Driving into the potholes is causing excessive wear on vehicles. The waste lorry and delivery vans are repeatedly putting ruts into the grass verges. If a no through sign was erected at the entrance to the Lane it would hopefully proactively prevent unwanted vehicles turning into the Lane which then exasperates the situation. The Lane sign is rotting and dropping off. Vehicles often enter the Lane before realising that it is a no through road. The vehicles then have to turn around on the verges. They then churn up mud and get stuck and sink into the mud. Please assess and effect repairs to prevent further hinderance.
