83 Main Road, Quadring PE11 4PW

Reported via desktop in the Flowing water, life or property at risk category anonymously at 20:34, Thursday 22 February 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 495443.

There are two issues where road water is being discharged onto our property 1. The drains on Main Road, Quadring. are continually blocked. Road water then runs off across the pedestrian footpath and onto adjacent land, then entering our property. 2. As the two drains are blocked, most of the water for a stretch of road approximately 100m from the Post office down, now discharges to a third drain (just a simple pipe) and into a gully adjacent to our property. We own half the gulley and the other half is the responsibility of SHDC. Further down, the water extends to land owned by 33 and 43 Watergate and several properties from 45 Watergate onwards which are now all waterlogged. The problem is that this gully is not a drain or dyke as it is permanently blocked at both ends. It is, in effect, a ditch. The water is very high and does not drain away. The water level is being exacerbated by the excessive volume of water being discharged from the road. The owner of 45 Watergate now has parts of his property underwater and I am informed is being damaged by the high water levels in this ditch. The water level adjacent to our property (83 Main Road) is very high and there is a possibility of structural damage or flooding if it remains so. This has been going on since before Christmas, but is a perennial problem. I request that (i) the two blocked drains are restored to proper functionality and (ii) the third drain and pipe diverted to a proper drain and away from the gully that is adjacent to ours and other neighbours’ properties to avoid damage to our properties.
