Water Lane from Old School House to No15.

Reported via desktop in the Pothole on road/cycleway category by Jonathan Paul Knychala at 08:59, Saturday 6 April 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2802309.

Dear Sir, I have lived in Water lane for the past 25 years and repaiered the pot holes. The the farm tractors come. Now approaching 70 my neighbours and I can no longer do this. We pay our council taxes with no issues and now need some help. It probably neds 15 Mt of road trailing spread on it to seal the limstone chips. Could the council help? It would be good to formally adopt the road as we are counsil tac payers and we are only talking about 150 yards. The lean is heavily used by the village and it would be greatly appreciated. Regards John Knychala

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report. This section of Water Lane is not part of the vehicular carriageway but is instead a public footpath (Ancaster Public Footpath 2). There are no recorded public rights to drive along the footpath with a vehicle; the Council maintains the public footpath to a condition suitable for use by pedestrians but we are not able to maintain the footpath in order to cater for the private vehicular traffic leading to the adjacent properties. The Council’s responsibilities for maintaining the land is limited in its scope and it is instead the responsibility for the landowner to cater for private vehicular use. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action
