Good morning We are still waiting for the highways agency drain that runs across the front of our driveway to be cleaned out. We have been asking for this to be done since around November 2022. There are two ongoing issues to complex to explain in a message but the main issue is to clean the drain out. It has a grid which is fixed with metal clips so we cannot clean it out ourselves. I am continuing having to pull out weeds from it but it is full off run off debris from the pavement. When it rains heavily or for long periods of time the runoff water from the pavement runs onto our driveway almost to our front door and a large pool of water lays all across our driveway and covers the full pedestrian side of the pavement. It is to deep to walk through making access in and out of our property very difficult for my 87 year old mother with her rollator. This drain used to be regularly cleaned out by highways maintenance but since the end of 2022 despite regular requests to do it nothing has been done. We are not sure where to go from here with this issue. The rains will be staring again soon and we will be struggling with it again.
I am hoping someone can help to sort this matter out please.

Hello It has been more than two years now. Still waiting for the drain across front of our driveway to be cleaned out.
I have once again cleared the weeds and grass that keep growing out the drain. I have to do this at least once a month with difficulty as the grill bars are close together and I can’t clean all the soil and other debri out of the drain myself as the grill is bolted down.
This drain used to be regularly cleared out by the highways agency but despite numerous request for more than two years this has still not been done.
All the debris and water from the pavement washes down onto our driveway a ne across the pavement when it rains.
Access to our driveway and property is very difficult when it rains due to the volume of water and depth across the driveway and fully across the pedestrian side of the pavement and if very heavy rain the water can come down to just before our front door and also partially across our neighbours pedestrian access to his house. My mother uses a walker which makes access in and out of our property very difficult when it rains a lot. Our neighbours mother also is ina wheelchair also a problem for them.
My concern now is when the tai. Starts again we will be in the same situation with no solution tj this problem.
I have contacted the highways agency by calls and message so many times I have lost count and am so frustrated at this stage as nothing been done still.
I feel I have always been polite and patient but wonder if perhaps the idea is if we ignore these requests for long enough we will just give up contacting you. This has an impact on our life is frustrating and can be solved so easily by someone coming and just cleaning all the debris out like they used to do.
Where do I go from here? Is there anyone I can speak to to escalate this further please. We would really just like the drain cleaned out please.

Hello as per all previous requests the drain across our driveway has as yet not been cleaned out.
We would really appreciate this been done before the rains starts as once again we will be struggling with access to our property.

Hello Now that the rain has started again once again the entrance across our driveway and partly down it and across the footpath was full of water too deep to be able to walk in.
Please can someone come and clean out the drain with metal grill over it which was put in by the highways agency to stop this issue.
I have been asking for so long now very politely.
If you are unable to deal with this matter for why ever reason please let me know who I need to be contacting.

Hello Unfortunately the drain across our driveway which was put across by the highways agency has not been cleaned out despite the message we have just been sent to say it has been done. The drain is fully blocked with debris I am unable to clean out myself as the grid is bolted down.

Hello I’ve attached some photographs to confirm that the drain has not been cleaned out. I pulled out weeds and grass a week ago and as you can see sue ti the amount of debris in the drain there are more growing already. The end part of the drain the debris is so compact I cannot even loses it with the thin tool I have to use to lift out the weeds and grass.
I am hoping that after sk long this can finally be resolved.
This drain used to be cleaned out by the highways agency for years with just one request. It has been over two years now and numerous calls and messages and still not done.
I am hoping this will be resolved before the heavy rains start again as this affects access jn and out of our property and floods across the full pedestrian part of the pathway also.

Good morning The Highways agency drain that runs across the front of our driveway has still not been cleaned out after multiple requests.
Now the rain has started the debris in the drain is even more compacted and water pooling across the full driveway, down our driveway and across the pedestrian part of the paving when it rains.
Is there anyone at the highways agency who can arrange having the drain clean out please. After all these years an issue which can be easily resolved has now been ongoing for over two of years.
I am not sure anymore who I need to speak to. I get the same response from calling your call centre as I do from submitting this online. Nothing gets done.
Do I need to speak to our local MP or Look north to see if they have more success than I have had over the years. I do not want to but don’t know what else to do to have this simple job done.
If I could lift the grid myself I would do it myself but it is bolted down so I cannot.
