School Entrance Road Markings - Zig Zag Yellows now barely visible

Reported via desktop in the Road Markings category anonymously at 14:31, Wed 3 July 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2811287.

The important yellow zig zag markings on the roads outside the St George's Primary school entrance are extremely faded now. They should be bright and clearly visible like the markings on the junction (see 2nd picture uploaded for a comparison).

  • Surely you can do better than that? These are very important road markings outside a school and they are only going to get worse. Please don't let it get to the point where they aren't visible at all - which won't be long by the looks of things.

  • Look at this picture for example from a short distance back, great that you have a school sign (the school zone sign further up on the right is covered by the tree currently as it has grown over it unfortunately), the junction markings are clear, but the school road markings are not visible at all.

  • I see that double yellows are planned by LCC for the corners where people have been parking dangerously. This is a perfect opportunity to also fix the markings outside the school. Please don't ignore this.

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because as previously updated - a request has been made for the lines to be assessed . Works will be scheduled if the lines are deemed to meet the criteria. We have requested it is refreshed in a future scheme of works. At this stage we are unable to give specific dates because we prioritise these schemes county wide. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • Hi LCC, I think you've missed the point of what I was suggesting. I was merely pointing out that as YOU are planning to paint NEW double yellow lines as referencd by the newspaper report, you may as well do the lines outside the school at the same time. They are next to eachother. Why waste time and money by doing half a job?

  • I've just noticed that you've been out today and fixed this issue. Thank you for putting the effort in where it really counts! It's very much appreciated. You can see how vibrant and clear the safety markings are now, as they should be. Thanks again.
