28 Station Road, Castle Bytham

Reported via desktop in the Collapsed verge category anonymously at 11:36, Fri 12 July 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2812124.

(This is what I sent to the council but with more photos. They told me that it is under your area so to forward the information onto yourselves)

We noticed rats starting to appear around early March but we were trying to deal with them ourselves so I only rang for advice on the 17th June. I don't know if the bank (see pic 1) is highway or still part of the council property. It started off with a main rat hole but has since expanded to 16 on the last count. As you can see, we keep the hedge cut, the grass and weeds cut and there is no food source near the homes. They have started burrowing from the bank into the gardens, for the holes in our garden we put rat poison down the, fill it with gravel and then put bricks over to prevent them coming back up. My cats do catch a few but they don't really like them. They have been in mine and my neighbours houses which is gross as we keep tidy homes. I don't dare put poison down on the bank in case a child or a pet somehow touches it and gets ill or even worse. Now the bank itself has started to slide in the last two months. The earth they have moved to burrow now is sliding down the bank onto the pavement. We sweep it up every week but we are worried that it will destabilise the bank and it could slide much further over the path. I know you don't do pest control anymore but please could we get some advice on how to handle this as they are dirty, germy and making a big colony under our garden. Thank you, Debbie Leverseidge
