Four drains outside No 1 & 3 Church Lane

Reported via mobile in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 10:19, Tue 16 July 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2812467.

Again we have a problem where four drains outside our properties are not taking any rainfall. A new drain you installed outside the Church does work, but even with light rainfall the others do not accept water. Glebelands, Coquet and 1 & 3 Church Lane are all affected by the back-up in our sewage pipes because the main storm drains aren't flowing, and we have flooding in our gardens. You advised 'no further action' on 10th Jan 2024 when we reported this before, referring to problems associated with heavy rainfall. The drainheads are cleaned out regularly, but I'd like to request you inspect them internally, as this happens even with more usual rainfall.

  • Overnight rain has again caused problems, with a very heavy flow of water coming on to Carlton Road directly from Park Lane. The drains on Carlton Road are not taking the water, and it is flowing through the gardens of the same four properties, causing extensive flooding to the gardens. The flow has also divided into Church Lane, and the drains outside No 1 are not accepting the water either. This is causing further flooding to No 1 and No 3 Church Lane.

  • Further to the above update - as at the time of the original report, water is pouring out of the 3rd drain from the junction on Church Lane (outside no 1 Church Lane.) This means that all the water that flows down Carlton Road (where there are no drains) and round the corner into Church Lane goes into the 1st and 2nd drain but then comes out of the 3rd. This has caused extensive flooding to both church land and the above mentioned gardens. On August 9th you updated that the work had been passed to a delivery gang to carry out the work. Please confirm when this work will be done as it clearly needs doing.
