On Doddington RD. From sadler road junction (A46 end) to near Frome Close
Reported via Android in the Sign (unlit) category by Peter M. Cowan at 00:03, Tue 3 September 2024
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2816908.
Absence of 40mph repeater signs for over 1100m. Traffic Signs Manual 2019 recommends a spacing of 350m. Due to the vicinity of the driving test centre this causes unnecessary confusion to novice drivers particularly.

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because upon inspection, signage for 40mph can be found along Doddington Road, East of Kingsley Road junction, and West of Whisby Road junction (Less than 1100m). 40mph signage is also located at the junctions approaching Doddington Road on Kingsley Road, Sadler Road, Pershore Way, Birchwood Avenue, Frome Close and Whisby Road along with the respective 30mph on the opposite face as required. Thank you for reporting this matter.

According to Google maps (screenshot attached) the distance is 0.7miles between the 40mph repeaters you have identified, well over double the distance recommended of 350m. I inform learner drivers of the rules regarding speed limit recognition, and exceptions like this make it difficult for them. This section is included in almost every driving test route, unhelpfully.
