Great news, we’ve had a look at the issue and we have now passed to our Highways Officers for the team to assess what can be done to resolve the matter. We’ll let you know when the assessment has taken place.

I have measured the road and this clearly narrows near the property. I have photographs of this and videos clearly showing that vehicles use the middle of the road to pass. More importantly the speed of the road is too fast. The safety of minors should be a priority to the council especially as you have a duty of care towards. The new highway laws protects pedestrians above vehicles, this is not in place here. The road and winding roads are not suitable for HGV’s especially as they have little regard to speed. The speed of the road needs reducing and speed bumps. All that is happening currently is the statue of the children and fatality are high and this is putting extra pressure on emergency services. The council should work in tandem with such service’s especially as they are stretched to maximum capacity. It appears that the council does not have control and are not actioning risk assessments leaving them liable to a claim. I would like to highway inspector with the right qualifications to knock at my door when visiting the site.

I am astounded that this issue has not been resolved when this poses a risk to life, especially when this impacts minors. The new rules that came out by the highways give’s pedestrians a higher ranking on a road than a vehicle. It makes a mockery of the service provided, when the council has a Road Safety awareness lesson plan for children yet you are doing the total opposite by putting minors in danger. In previous correspondence I requested a copy of the risk assessment associated with my complaint as yet this has not been received. This should be made available asap and should be a public document. I would also like to know the dimensions set out for all roads, what measurement, width wise is classed as a A- road, B-roads and C-roads.

Why am I still waiting for a response regarding damage to my property caused by vehicles hitting the side of it due to the road being too narrow! I have been out today and can see that one of the temporary bollards at the side of the house has been hit on top of previous damage. Are we waiting for a vehicle to impact the building full on before this is taken seriously. Had you have sent out qualified persons in the first instance you would have recognised that the road is too narrow for yep vehicles and the property is the side of the road. There is no hedge to cut do why would I need to look this up as previously suggested in the last update. I want urgent action on this now or this will become very costly for the council when they have to reimburse us for damage caused. You cannot reimburse for a lost life though or do you only take action when this impacts your own family!
