Legsby road

Reported via mobile in the Trip hazard/uneven surface category anonymously at 13:42, Thursday 26 September 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council 1 hour, 7 minutes later. Council ref: 2818919.

I am concerned regarding overgrowth on the public pathway from approximately the Annex Cafe to the race course along the Legsby road coming out of Market Rasen. The path has been getting narrower and narrower in places, due to grass overgrowth, that a pushchair or mobility scooter does not have room, and it is getting more and more uneven. I walk my dog most days along this route and this morning I passed an elderly gentleman on a mobility scooter having great difficulty. He was actually trying to get to the golf club. Some maintenance needs to be made to this footpath to restore its width. Also I think consideration should be made in extending this footpath to at least reach the golf club. Whichever direction you go out of Market Rasen there are always miles of footpaths, except for Legsby road. More housing development is scheduled and a caravan park between the racecourse and the golf club is in the pipeline from what I am told, so footpath is greatly needed. Cars fly up and down that road, particularly coming from the golf club, it is frightening sometimes and dangerous. Much appreciated. Mrs J Archer

  • We’re sending you this message to let you know that we’ve assessed the footway condition and, though the verge has encroached in places, the low footfall of this location does not yet warrant it being placed in the siding works programme. In regard to extending the footway in this location, there are no plans to carry out such work at this time and it would not appear to be a justifiable allocation of public funds. However, if you believe there is a case to be made, we would advise contacting your parish or town councillor. Thank you for reporting this matter.
