A17 Boston Road, just prior to Fairfields/Mile Cottage

Reported via mobile in the Visibility at junction or bend category anonymously at 16:21, Thu 17 October 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2821027.

We previously raised a concern (2818894) which has since been closed with no ability to discuss the findings. Whilst we acknowledge and accept that prior to our ownership a hedge was planted alongside the boundary which as you describe is our responsibility to now maintain. However the issue we raised was the visibility on exiting the property when looking to the right, we previously described this as dangerous due to the road speed and short clearance distance able to be seen. We continue to feel that the issue is not the hedge as you have described, but a self seeded plantings of various descriptions (not hedging !) of predominant sycamore type stems and nettles etc, which appear to have had the chance to transplant from a sycamore tree across the road along with an overgrown embankment allowing the nettles to thrive. This continues to be well outside of our field / boundary and the hedge you describe and we continue to feel this is LCC responsibility.

We would welcome a discussion at site or a phone call to be able to look together to ensure that we are identifying the same problem. For reference the hedging which was planted to our boundary is a combination of blackthorn and hawthorn , not anything else, and can clearly be seen if walking the embankment.

Please contact us by return on “fix mystery” or 07488 347380 to arrange to meet at site.

Thank you
