Reported via desktop in the Standing water covering less than half the road category anonymously at 09:41, Wed 23 October 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2821490.

Further to my report 2806960 - you referrred me to South Holland District Council - after numerous emails requesting a response, I received this:

Dear John Clark

Re: file reference FC3349

Thank you for your email of the 2nd of October.

We have made further enquiries into the issues you are having.

Mud on road being splashed on house by speeding tractors – Report to Traffic Calming LCC Highways Mud on road – Report to LCC Highways Traffic driving on footpath – Report to LCC Highways Drainage to roadways – Report to LCC Highways The mud on the road needs to be reported to Lincolnshire County Council Highways as is the responsibility of the Farmers/Construction companies to clear up after themselves and ensuring the road is safe for other road users. It would also stop your property getting sprayed unnecessarily as a result.

We do have a sweeper that cover the whole of South Holland and sweeps throughout on a regular basis. If the road needs some extra attention, you can make a request via the South Holland District Council website for an unscheduled sweep. They will only sweep on kerbed roads. We are aware that you have previously used Fix My Street, but for your convenience here is the link once more https://fixmystreet.lincolnshire.gov.uk/

Once again here is also the link to the LCC Highways Traffic Management page: https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/ traffic-management

We do sympathise with the issues you are having, especially whilst recovering from surgery. We do hope you are able to have everything resolved.

Yours sincerely

Feedback and Enquiry Team South Holland District Council

So, you say it's their responsibility and they say it's yours. I am now disabled following a failed knee replacement and need this dealing with now. I first lodged this complaint in June - please DO NOT refer it or me back to South Holland. John Clark

  • Hi - can you please provide an update of what actions are being taken. This has been reported since June and it appears nothing has been done. Since then I have had the area professionally cleaned twice and within 24 hours it is just as filthy as before. I have bought new cones and immediately, the farm vehicle drivers seem to think it’s a game and run them over. This has to stop. I have a 2 year old grandson who visits and it is just highly dangerous as the farm vehicles continue to thunder by in flagrant abuse of the law and all principles of safety. There needs to be a traffic calming system and a raised kerb before someone is killed! Thank you.

  • These are the latest photos taken this morning - the mud is now being spayed over my garage, drive, car, pavement and house. This has to stop now! Please respond without further delay. Thanks, John Clark

  • We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because we have inspected the issues reported as part of a recent ward tour undertaken along with the ward Cllr. No issues were observed with either standing water or mud on the highway, no action taken. Thank you for reporting this matter.

State changed to: No further action

  • Thanks for your reply. The reason there is not a current issues is that I have paid for professional cleaning 3 times as the state of the road was intollerable - I have now spent almost £1,000 having it cleaned. Your job is SURELY to prevent this from happening constantly? You can see the evidence in pictures. I am paying rates AND private contractors - and it is not sustainable. Please outline what actions you are intending to take in light iof this additonal infgormation. Thanks
