Lamppost on Occupation Road at the end nearest to Long Leys Road.

Reported via desktop in the Street light category by Cllr Rebecca Longbottom at 09:21, Fri 29 November 2024

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2824873.

The light is not working. The entrance into Occupation Road from Long Leys Road is very dark and uninviting. It does not feel safe.

  • A house on Burton Road which backs on to Occupation Road was broken into one night last week whilst an elderly couple were upstairs and a substantial amount of money stolen. The police were informed and attended. The absence of the street light makes that end of the road extremely dark and with this incident, single ladies living alone have felt vulnerable. A prompt response would be welcome.

  • I understand that one of my neighbours has reported another burglary at one of the houses on Burton Road that backs on to the Long Leys Road end of Occupation Road. This property is adjacent to the one that was broken into a few weeks ago. There seems to be an increase in criminal activity in the area which is not helped by the defective street light. In addition I had a nasty fall in the area necessitating a doctors visit and referral to the hospital for treatment. I understand the solution is somewhat complicated but would be grateful if you could upgrade the work.

  • The continuing problem with the street light (first reported on 29th November) has not helped in illuminating the large pothole outside 13 Occupation Road. I have stumbled into it twice recently, narrowly avoiding injury. Indeed the numerous potholes on the road warrant further inspection. I appreciate there are problems with the light but not to be fixed in almost three months surely is not acceptable.
