Trotters Lane, from about halfway up, to the junction with High Street

Reported via mobile in the Public right of way flooding category anonymously at 18:33, Thursday 2 January 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2828179.

Continuation of report 2805025.

Water continues to escape and run down Trotters Lane, flowing slow and continuously. Silt continues to collect at the lower part of Trotters Lane, causing potential slip hazard.

As we now are experiencing sub zero temperatures I’m concerned that ice will build up along this newly formed stream, causing a potential hazard to residents less stable on their feet.

Please can consideration be given to fix this before anyone falls on this potential hazard.

  • The County has received a large amount of rainfall in a short space of time and as such we are having to prioritise flooding sites which pose a risk to life or significant risk of internal flooding. It’s worth noting that at times of extreme weather even well-maintained drains and watercourses can become overwhelmed. Should you feel your property is at risk your first action should be to contact the emergency services who will assess the situation and act accordingly. Thank you for reporting this matter.

  • Thank you for your response, I do appreciate it even if it is the same response you have given to a number of different cases; however, in this instance may I politely request that you review your response in line with the original request. This has been reported numerous times and is not just linked to abnormal weather incidents. As the weather gets colder and the stream flowing down Trotters Lane starts to freeze, this is going to cause a hazard to people and property. Previously when you have investigated this you have reported to have fixed this, may I request you share what actions were taken previously and whether you have a plan for further actions, or what mitigations you are going to put in place to address the risk to people or property?

  • Thank you for your update. Trotters Lane was last cleansed on 19/12/2024 and when the officer visited the site on 8.1.25 there was no substantial surface water present. The officer will continue to monitor the area as part of their regular inspections and raise any necessary works as required. Thank you for reporting this matter.
