Leaning tree on Grantham Road B1176 betrween roadsign "Blind Summit" and Bitchfield Village
Reported via mobile in the Hanging tree or branch category anonymously at 15:01, Saturday 18 January 2025
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2830796.
There is a large oak/ash tree which had previously been leaning towards the highway, but since the high winds and rain we have been experiencing recently, it is now leaning at a dangerous angle across the road.
I am reporting this as dangerous. As trees sometimes go rotten from the inside with no external signs and further high winds could bring it down with fatal consequences.

We are sorry but we are not taking immediate action with this report because the tree has had recent work as can be seen from the new cut marks on the upper limbs. It has also had ivy removed. Compared with Google 2009 the tree presents at the same angle. Given the recent work and the rebalancing of the crown - removal of limbs towards the road this tree does not give cause for concern. Anyone carrying out works would have not let it remain had it been appearing in poor health. We will not be taking action at this time. Thank you for reporting this matter.
