The carriageway is wholly submerged or partially submerged by groundwater for several months of the year. This groundwater freezes during wintery conditions causing significant ice hazard to vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. The freezing and refreezing has broken up the surface of the carriageway and several potholes are now present. In our opinion this is caused by the natural drainage to the verges being blocked or not installed.

Reported via desktop in the Standing water covering less than half the road category by Linda Hunt at 12:36, Friday 31 January 2025

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2832616.

The water is coming from the higher ground which surrounds this part of the road. Generally speaking this road has retained water for at least 3 months of the year and at other times after heavy rainfall. Even in the drier months of the year a heavy rainstorm will cause water to lie on the carriageway for one to two weeks as it there is nowhere for it to drain into. The freezing, thawing, refreezing cycle is breaking up the carriageway over a 10 metre stretch of the roadway. This problem has existed for several years but it gets progressively worse as time goes on
