Road at top of drive 98 Horncastle Road, LN10 6UX
Reported via desktop in the Standing water covering less than half the road category anonymously at 13:58, Monday 3 February 2025
Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2833030.
With any moderate to heavy rain, there is nowhere for the water in front of the driveway to drain to. There are no drains before or after the top of the drive, so it takes a long time for the water to gradually drain away. What happens is, vehicles drive through the standing water which is splashed on to the drive. In colder weather, this then freezes making it a slip haxard for pedestrians & a little difficult for cars to grip. Ideally a drain needs fitting both before & after our driveway.

Why have we closed this report? We cleaned this areas drains in the last year and our last inspection showed that they are working well. It’s worth noting though that at times of extreme weather even well-maintained drains like these can be overwhelmed. If the problem happens again but in less extreme conditions then please report this to us and we will investigate the issue again. Thank you for reporting this matter.

There was moderate rainfall since yesterday afternoon & overnight & there’s a similar volume of water in front of my drive & the neighbouring properties again. The drains may have been cleaned, but the situation is repeated every time it rains, as the standing water has no nearby drains to run into. Surely the only solution is to install new drains?
