Very large logs on side of carriageway

The homeowner on the junction of Avenue Farm Road/Rookery Road has placed some VERY large logs/lumps of tree on the edge of the carriageway. The gateway has been used as a passing place for years. The road is a single track road used by agricultural machinery and lorry’s as well as the residents. Visibility when approaching the junction from New road is poor and is only going to get worse when the trees and bushes come out in leaf making it dangerous when entering the road. The placing of these logs/large lumps of tree are making it difficult for 2 large vehicles to meet and pass. Personally I was always on the understanding that when there is no kerb present highways ‘own’ the first 1 metre from the edge of the road which is why they employ a contractor to cut the road sides in the summer.

Great news, we’ve had a look at the issue and we have now passed to our Highways Officers for the team to assess what can be done to resolve the matter. We’ll let you know when the assessment has taken place.
