We are not taking any action at this time. The footway is closed officially due to the collapse of a private wall. There is a footway opposite that can be used by Highway users. Once the wall has been made safe The footway will be re-opened. Thank you for reporting this matter.

I feel that the last update from the council is totally inadequate, not only have you brushed off the dates on the sign that appeared some 6-8 weeks after the wall was hit approximately at the beginning of November, the work was then scheduled, we full expect council work to take time but ten weeks later nothing, it is not good enough. The issue is not just pedestrians (mainly elderly and children, I have personally seen two near misses involving both) now having to cross the road at a junction with poor visibility of the latest rat run of 'speeding vehicles' coming up and down Church Hill, that has steadily increased since the ring road was opened. There is also the fact that vehicles pulling out of Drake Avenue, who have always had difficulty seeing the same speeding vehicles coming down the hill, now have signs and barriers also blocking their view (again I have heard of a number of near accidents, including a couple speeding vehicles nearly hitting myself, when pulling out) The wall may be an issue that needs pressure to correct asap, but your signage is a major factor as well. This is an accident waiting to happen and needs urgent attention
