Sent to Lincolnshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2839430.
There is a locked metal farm gate at the point where the right of way passes from the field to the east of the farm into the farmyard itself. The gate has been modified by adding metal bars to each side of the gate between which are located a row of spiked wheels of the kind you normally only see on the top of fences on industrial estates. It is currently impossible to continue along the public footpath at this point. This is the first time I have attempted to walk this footpath recently so am unaware of how long it has been blocked.

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know about this matter to do with this public right of way. Just so that you know, this is what’s classified as a ‘Priority 4 Path’ within our current Lincolnshire County Council policy. Because this path is a ‘4’ there’s no specific timescale for resolution of obstruction issues. What happens with this category of path is that all issues are investigated and the resolved at the same time, so when the path does have a workplan actioned then ALL issues outstanding are taken care of in one go. We’ll let you know when anything happens further on this matter but, for now, we won’t be carrying out any work at this site.
BUT! If any report made to us is a Health and Safety matter, then this will be dealt with in a timescale that’s appropriate. The entry gate to the field east of the farm (when approaching from the east) is also reinforced with barbed wire and two signs stating no access or right of way. This footpath would form a useful loop walk out from the village of Heighington. Attempted 5/5/25, turned back due to the clear intention of the landowner to prevent access.
