Pedestrian crossing outside 282 Wolsey Way

The lights have recently been replaced. This crossing is quite wide. Since replacement it gives 5 seconds of green light for pedestrians which is nowhere near enough for some of the elderly who use it. Today I watched an elderly couple who were less than halfway across when the traffic lights turned green and traffic started moving on Lincoln Road including traffic turning left onto Wolsey Way where the elderly couple were still in the middle of the road trying to cross. Please be aware that some people, especially elderly, have reduced reaction time so they need a couple of seconds before they even start walking but I reiterate that with the width of the crossing, being on a corner, 5 seconds is nowhere near enough walking time to cross even without slow reactions to start moving. I reported this issue a year or two ago and the timing was changed but since the lights were renewed last month the timing has been drastically reduced to only 5 seconds. It’s obvious that the safety feature of the motion sensor isn’t having any effect from what I saw this morning and have seen several times in the past couple of weeks since the new lights were switched on
