Please can you advise me when the communal grass and highway areas in Whaplode will be cut as we are now in the middle of May and most areas are still waiting for their first cut. 1) Cross Street 2) The Tilney communal area. 3)Mill Lane - Corner, school, and bungalow area 4) High Road area by bus shelter 5) Walk and wooded area at the back of the Tilney. Looking at your online policy it doesn’t seem to be happening in Whaplode. Is this acceptable in view of the rates we pay? Grass cutting in South Holland We cut the grass on South Holland District Council owned land. We also hold responsibility for any clients land, whilst acting as a contractor for them. This includes but is not limited to:
Public open space areas Ayscoughfee Hall Gardens, Spalding Castle Sports Field, Spalding Monkhouse Field, Spalding. We aim to cut the grass we own, or have responsibility for, a minimum of 10 times per year. As a general rule, arisings are not removed from a site as this is not a viable practice. 'Cut and collect' (where arisings are removed from a site) is only carried out in Ayscoughfee Hall Gardens.
To report a problem with grass in any of the above areas please contact Customer Services.
We also carry out some grass cutting work as a contractor. The frequency and standard of work undertaken as a contractor is dependent on the particular contract specification and the requirement of the client.
Grass verges on highways, adopted roads and footpaths Highway grass verges alongside adopted roads and footpaths are the responsibility of Lincolnshire County Council Highways.
Lincolnshire County Council Highways maintain the grass verges by safety cutting them twice a year in rural areas, during the summer months, to a width of 1m either side of the road and footpath. At junctions and some bends, the verges are cut to the highway boundary to improve visibility. Lincolnshire County Council Highways do not carry out amenity cutting in built-up areas, approaches to major junction
